This
medal commemorates the
visit of the Emperor Pu Yi to Japan in April 1935. All that participated in the
preparation of the voyage were to be awarded this medal, that was struck in Japan at the
Osaka Mint.
Imperial
Edict No. 116 of 21 September 1935 established this medal,
and has an inusual spearhead-shape. It is made in oxidized silver. Obverse is convex,
decorated with a field of orchid and chrysanthemum blossoms (Imperial flowers of Manchukuo
and Japan). Below there is a vertical banner with the characters for "I Te I
Hsin" (one in virtue and spirit"). Reverse is plain with three vertical lines of
characters for "Kang Teh 2nd year | Manchukuo Empire, Emperor's Visit to Japan
Commemorative Medal | 4th month 6th day".
Ribbon
is 37 mm. wide, watered silk, dark purple with 3 mm. red edges.
Presentation case is of black pasteboard with the name of the medal in gilt.
